Se investigó sobre la nutrición molecular que se centra en la interacción entre los nutrientes y los genes, explorando cómo los componentes de los alimentos afectan la expresión genética y, a su vez, la salud humana La nutrición molecular estudia cómo los nutrientes interactúan con los genes, influyendo en la expresión génica y la salud. El estudio busca comprender cómo los nutrientes interactúan con los genes para influir en la salud y prevenir enfermedades. Sus objetivos incluyen identificar mecanismos moleculares de regulación génica por nutrientes, explorar la epigenética alimentaria y desarrollar dietas personalizadas basadas en perfiles genéticos. Las estrategias metodológicas combinan análisis genómicos (como secuenciación de ADN) con estudios experimentales en modelos celulares y animales, además de ensayos clínicos en humanos. Se emplean técnicas como la transcriptómica y la metabolómica para evaluar la expresión génica y los metabolitos asociados a la ingesta de nutrientes específicos, como vitaminas, minerales o ácidos grasos. Los resultados muestran que nutrientes como el folato modulan la metilación del ADN, afectando genes relacionados con el cáncer, mientras que los ácidos grasos omega-3 regulan la expresión de genes antiinflamatorios. También se ha observado que deficiencias nutricionales alteran vías genéticas, incrementando riesgos de enfermedades crónicas. Las conclusiones destacan que la interacción nutriente-gen es bidireccional y depende del contexto genético individual. Esto subraya el potencial de la nutrigenómica para diseñar intervenciones dietéticas precisas, aunque se necesitan más estudios longitudinales para validar aplicaciones clínicas y superar limitaciones éticas y tecnológicas.
