La informalidad empresarial constituye uno de los principales retos para el desarrollo económico local, especialmente en territorios donde los emprendedores enfrentan limitaciones para acceder a información, financiamiento y acompañamiento institucional. Este estudio analiza la relación entre la formalización de los emprendimientos informales y la sostenibilidad empresarial en la parroquia Venus, cantón Quevedo. Se empleó un enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño no experimental y transversal, aplicando una encuesta estructurada a una muestra de 49 emprendedores para identificar los factores que influyen en su decisión de formalizarse y evaluar cómo esta condición se relaciona con la estabilidad del negocio. Los resultados muestran que la formalización facilita el acceso a capacitación, financiamiento y oportunidades comerciales que fortalecen la permanencia y el crecimiento de los negocios. Sin embargo, persisten barreras vinculadas a los costos del proceso, la falta de información y la percepción de trámites complejos, lo que limita la decisión de incorporarse al sistema formal. Se concluye que la formalización constituye un elemento clave para la sostenibilidad empresarial, siempre que vaya acompañada de políticas locales que simplifiquen los procedimientos, reduzcan costos y brinden apoyo técnico efectivo para incentivar la regularización de los emprendimientos.
