Resumen

La linfohistiocitosis hemofagocítica (HLH) es un síndrome hiperinflamatorio potencialmente mortal que puede presentarse como una complicación secundaria de infecciones sistémicas.Describir un caso de HLH secundaria a fiebre entérica en un paciente pediátrico y resaltar la importancia del diagnóstico y tratamiento oportunos.Se presenta un paciente pediátrico con fiebre persistente y síntomas gastrointestinales, en quien se confirmó infección por Salmonella spp. A pesar del tratamiento antibiótico adecuado, evolucionó con deterioro clínico progresivo y cumplió criterios diagnósticos de HLH.La HLH debe considerarse en pacientes con infecciones invasivas y evolución clínica desfavorable, especialmente en regiones endémicas, para permitir un diagnóstico precoz y prevenir complicaciones graves.
