Exploratory hand actions and spatial skills in infants

Establecer la relación entre las acciones manuales exploratorias y las habilidades espaciales. Se realizó un estudio experimental con 30 infantes de los Centros de Desarrollo Infantil de una ciudad de Colombia. La muestra se determinó con un nivel de confianza del 85 % y un margen de error del 15 %; los padres firmaron el consentimiento informado. Se realizó una modelación mediante ecuaciones estructurales de mínimos cuadrados parciales (PLS-SEM), que incluyó un modelo estructural y un modelo de medida. Los efectos grandes se dieron entre agarre-acciones manuales exploratorias con una mano (0,402), acciones exploratorias con una mano-relaciones espaciales (4,57) y relaciones espaciales-habilidades espaciales (0,87); efecto medio, entre categorías espaciales-habilidades espaciales (0,243). Las habilidades espaciales son las capacidades que tienen los infantes para integrar procesos cognitivos al explorar objetos, primero de forma unimanual con uno o más objetos y luego bimanual. Las categorías espaciales se formaron cuando los infantes marcaron la posición final de un objeto con referencia a otro.
