The manifestation of anxiety in young people as a result of exposure to community violence

La violencia comunitaria constituye uno de los principales factores de riesgo para la salud mental de los jóvenes, especialmente en contextos urbanos marcados por altos niveles de inseguridad. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar el impacto de la violencia comunitaria sobre la manifestación de ansiedad en jóvenes de Guayaquil. Se empleó un enfoque cuantitativo con diseño no experimental de alcance causal y corte transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 110 jóvenes de entre 18 y 28 años, seleccionados mediante muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. La recolección de datos se realizó a través de un cuestionario estructurado en formato digital aplicado en Microsoft Forms, elaborado a partir del Inventario de Ansiedad de Beck (BAI) y adaptado al contexto de la violencia comunitaria. Los datos fueron analizados mediante el Modelo de Ecuaciones Estructurales. Los resultados evidenciaron un efecto directo, positivo y significativo de la violencia comunitaria sobre la ansiedad, con un R² = 0.448. Se concluye que la exposición a entornos violentos se asocia significativamente con manifestaciones somáticas, cognitivas y afectivas de ansiedad en población universitaria joven, lo que subraya la necesidad de desarrollar intervenciones preventivas en salud mental comunitaria en contextos de alta inseguridad.
