Comprensión de la teoría de la evolución de alumnos de bachillerato de una Universidad pública en México
Understanding of the theory of evolution among high school students at a public university in Mexico

La teoría de la evolución ha sido, una teoría científica controversial. A pesar de formar parte de curricula escolares, sigue siendo contradictoria, con relación al tradicionalismo conservador. En este trabajo se intenta identificar los niveles de aceptación de la teoría de la evolución en alumnos de bachillerato. Se aplicó el cuestionario Medición de la Aceptación de la Teoría de la Evolución (MATE) de 20 preguntas a 226 alumnos, con cinco opciones de respuestas de acuerdo a la escala Likert. El análisis estadístico reveló que los índices globales más aceptados fueron la evolución humana, y las evidencias de la evolución. La escala demostró una confiabilidad excelente (α = 0.844), sin embargo, la subescala validez científica, alcanzó niveles aceptables de confiabilidad. Considerando la preferencia religiosa entre los alumnos, no hay diferencias estadísticamente significativas en ninguna de las dimensiones evaluadas, la evolución humana alcanzo los niveles más altos. Estos resultados muestran las diferentes posturas filosóficas entre los alumnos encuestados, así como la influencia de las creencias religiosas en su criterio. Se observó que algunos alumnos no aceptan en su totalidad la teoría de la evolución, limitando la adquisición de dos componentes del pensamiento científico, el pensamiento crítico y la naturaleza de la ciencia.
